Troy is a father who resides in Gallup, NM but is originally from Sanders, AZ. He invests his time renovating homes. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 in October 2020. Since the pandemic the home renovating company Troy works for, took strict measures in preventing their workers from contracting the virus, from daily temperature checks to monthly nasal swab testing. Unfortunately, Troy caught the virus and doesn’t know specifically where he may have caught it from.
“I was fortunate that the virus lasted 11 days for me”
Living through the virus, Troy experienced having shortness of breath, even while trying to sleep, body aches, and an itchy throat.
“Soup, drinking green tea, and taking over-the-counter medicines like Advil, Nyquil, and Alka-Seltzer helped me keep my strength up and get over this virus”
As a COVID survivor, Troy’s suggestion to people who may have the virus, is to keep moving, drink lots of fluids, eat fresh fruits, drink hot soups and tea to help manage the virus.
“Having COVID-19 really makes you think about your life and what’s important. It has taught me that I want to be there for my kids and to be in their lives for a very long time"
As a parting message, Troy expresses “Please continue to be vigilant, we’ve lost so many of our people, and we don’t need to lose more”.
